Just got back from seeing the National Theatre Live show of Frankenstein in NYC. I saw it with Benedict Cumberbatch as The Creature and Jonny Lee Miller as Frankenstein.

It. was. brilliant.

The bits of Frankenstein (the novel) I liked the best was when the Creature came back into the picture and was smart. I love the fact that in this version, they really go into detail about how the Creature learns to walk and talk and think. Hell, they spend ten minutes at the beginning where he learns how to control his motor skills. Now, this could be boring, but Benedict puts in such a beautiful physical performance that one can't help but be mesmerized.

This play proves to me one thing that I knew, and one thing that I didn't know: Benedict Cumberbatch is one of the most gifted actors I've ever seen, and NO ONE gives Jonny Lee Miller enough credit as an actor. Seriously. I knew him as the guy from Hackers and the ex-Mr. Angelina Jolie, but he is so much more than that.

I'm so upset that I'm not going to get a chance to see the reverse cast. If I had known how wonderful the show was going to be, I would have booked tickets a month ago, but now they're sold out. :( I'm really hoping that, given the huge success this show is having, maybe National Theatre Live will release a DVD of it. They could put both versions on it and include that fun documentary they were making at the beginning. That would give everyone who wanted to see both casts their chance, as well as the tons of people that found out about the show too late and can't get tickets now that they're all sold out.

Seriously National Theatre Live...listen to me. Would I steer you wrong? What have you got to lose? You've already filmed it, you just have to put it on a little DVD. It is literally impossible for you to lose money on this deal!

I haven't posted on here in forever! I guess nothing exciting was going on. Tomorrow morning I'm leaving to go home for Thanksgiving...exciting! Haven't been home for Thanksgiving in two years! Other new stuff in life:

--I'm trying to figure out my life for after I graduate. Right now the plan is casting and an apartment on the UES of Manhattan. Yay! I have a phone meeting with a casting director lady my FA knows after I get back to school, so maybe she'll be like Hey do you want a job? Cause that would be cool.

--I'm stage managing a show called Trestle at Pope Lick Creek. Auditions are Dec 1, and it seems like it's going to be a really good show. What with murder and Southerners and all.

--As of like 8 hours, I have an internship at Boston Casting Inc for next semester!!!! Yay!!! So maybe I won't have to become a hobo after all!

Ugh its so late but I can't sleep I have to keep packing...damn my procrastination!

So I just got back from Strasbourg France earlier today, and I am leaving Luxembourg on Saturday. Its been really fun but Ill be glad to go home and see everybody again. Plus I went through an obscene amount of money on this trip and will be working the entire summer just to make up for it. But it was amazing. Ill be in Worcester for a few days and then Im going home to Buffalo for a week and a half or two weeks, if anyone wants to hang out. I cant wait to see my family, I havent been home since like Christmas, and even then I was only home for two weeks. Excited!!

Hey everybody, coming to you live from Heidelberg Germany!! I finally have access to a computer for a long enough time to post. I'm having such a good time so far in Luxembourg, and decided to brave a vacation to Heidelberg all by myself this weekend. It was very stressful, what with me not speaking barely any German and all, but its been really rewarding to see that I can manage on my own in a strange city where I dont speak the language. Today I went to Heidelberg Castle, which was beautiful but extremely physically demanding. You have to walk uphill at like a 50 degree angle to get there, and it was pretty warm today. But it was really nice. I also wandered around the main part of town for awhile, and went in and out of all the shops. Bought some souvenirs for people back home. At like 4:00 I was getting kind of bored, and all the places were going to close in an hour or so. I passed this movie theater that was showing Star Trek, and I decided to go. There was this brouchure that said that the movie would be shown in its original language with untertitulen (subtitles), but once I got into the theater, it was dubbed in German!! But I actually understood a lot of it. Being here has definitely helped me with my French and German skills...it at least gives me the confidence to go up to people and try to speak with them, even though I know a total of maybe fifty words in German and half that in French. The hostel I'm staying it is really nice, even though the outside makes it look wicked sketch (lol). I'm leaving tomorrow at like 2:00, so I don't know what I'm going to do in the morning. Maybe I'll just chill at the hostel. Who knows? I miss everyone back home! Lots of love! Tchüss!!

A Memoriam: Top Six Best Memories

Annie died earlier today, of injuries from a car accident almost a week ago. I decided that the best way I cope with grief is to try to remember the good things, even if it hurts to think about. So here goes.

6. Every year, Annie made me a birthday cake, and they were the best things in the world. She was a really talented chef. One year she made a pink one that kind of looked like boobs, and it was amazing!

5. We had this thing about 80s movies, especially Duckie from Pretty in Pink. We thought he was the coolest guy ever, even though he was kind of a stalker.

4. Freshman year, we made a short film about Odysseus for our English class. It was extremely low budget it, and no one would listen to us when we tried to direct them.

3. When we were in seventh grade, we went to Boston together. One night we got really mad at each other and didn't talk for two years. It was actually really funny, once we were friends again freshman year.

2. We were two of the whitest people in the entire world, and we always used to say that we were the whitest white girls on the West Side of Alden.

1. We went to go see Chicago for my 14th birthday, and Meta and Annie decided that they were Velma and Roxie, and I had to be Billy Flynn.

Even though we weren't close friends after high school, she was one of the nicest people I know, and was genuinely friendly. I hope that where ever she is right now, she knows how many people love and miss her.

So goodbye Annie, Rest in peace. May God be between you and harm in all the empty places where you must walk.

Remy just had a seizure. :( I was holding him and all of a sudden he went limp and started twitching for like 20 seconds. He seems like he's doing ok now, but it was really scary. Poor little guy. :(

So I know the last pictures of my pets I put up made them kind of look like worms (they were very little), but now they're cute and furry! I finally got Kyle's camera to work, so I'm posting some new pics of the little guys.

This is Remy, the daddy of my little family. He's a little over five months old now. He's super friendly and tame, but he's also kind of a fat ass. He loves to run around my room, and I let him because he never poops and he's fat so he's easy to catch. LOL Sometimes he turns into a parrot, and loves to sit on my shoulder.

This is Henri my little girly. She's an argente golden, and she's very cute. She is really skittish but she loves to play on my arms and shoulders while I'm in my bathrobe. She's a really good mommy!

This is Peter, the oldest boy. He's kind of skittish but very friendly, and he's really playful with the other gerbils. He loves to follow his dad around everywhere, and when he's a little older they're going to be really hard to tell apart because they look so much alike.

This is Gideon, one of the other boys. He is a complete momma's boy, he loves to play with me on the couch. He's super tame, and the most friendly of the babies. And as you can tell, he's extremely photogenic. :)

This is Ollie (Oliver) the runt of the litter. He's super cute, especially when he stands up on his back legs because he's so little! Pictures don't really do him justice, he always looks angry in them. He's a sweetie though, and likes to be held. He's Kyle's favorite. :)

This is Lily (Lilias) the only girl of the litter. It's kind of a weird (but adorable!) picture of her. She's a little skittish, but I think she's the prettiest of the litter. She loves her wheel and she loves to chew on EVERYTHING, just like her mommy.

All the babies are a little over 6 weeks old now. So cute!

Up At Night

So a lot of times I want to go to sleep, and then some random thing pops into my head and all of a sudden I can't stop thinking about it. The one for tonight is:

What are the rules for sexual consent for people who are mentally handicapped?

I mean, like, where is the line when you can say, "Yes, this person knew what they were doing," and "No, this person didn't know."? When you're mentally impaired, you can't give sexual consent. So wouldn't that be the same thing? But then doesn't that mean that everyone who is sleeping with them raping them? It doesn't make sense to me. But yeah...this is why it's 3:30 and I can't sleep. :(

Oct. 29th, 2008

So over the summer I'm going to Luxembourg for about a month. I'm going mostly to study, but we get weekends free to travel around Europe. Where should I go? The only places I really can't go are in Eastern Europe, because it's way too far to travel by train.

Also, I MIGHT spend some time in Europe after my study abroad trip, to backpack around, but that depends on whether or not I can find someone on the trip to travel with me. I'll already be in Europe, and it's been my dream to go backpacking through Europe for as long as I can remember. Any ideas of places you think I should go?

Right now I'm leaning towards England and the Netherlands...but if I end up staying for longer, I might want to spend some time in England then, because I miss it so much!! London is my favorite city in the universe. Gahhhh I'm so excited!!
